With all the demands on your time and attention, how do you make time to invest in your own training and education?
Here’s a hard truth: if you don’t create time for your own training, it won’t happen.
If you’re not putting forth the time and effort to “sharpen your saw'“ (a la 7 Habits), then you’ll be less efficient and effective in your work. Protect that time as a nonnegotiable investment in these three ways:
GET IT ON YOUR CALENDAR
Whether you’ll be attending a weekly group meeting, a monthly workshop, or a once-a-year retreat that requires travel (like Mama Spring Break!), make sure you plan it and put it on your schedule ahead of time. Guarantee all the stakeholders in your life — spouse, children, etc. — know about it and can plan accordingly.
PAY FOR IT
Most things that help you grow as a business owner require a financial investment. The truth is, the things we pay for, we pay more attention to. We’re more committed to something when we invest, so save some $$$ for your training.
FIGURE OUT CHILDCARE
Don’t wait until the night before your event to figure out babysitting needs. Plan ahead by setting up your childcare situation in advance — and possibly some Plan Bs for spur-of-the-moment contingencies. Anticipating your needs beforehand will help you feel less stressed and allow you to commit fully to your training.
Investing in yourself is important — for you, and your business. You might need to get creative, but you can do this!
READY TO INVEST IN YOURSELF?
If you’re looking to find a tribe of mom business owners, get training, and learn how to better use your precious time, we invite you to join us in our Mama Power community. We meet every week to help our members take power steps toward their big goals — while keeping their kids as their priority.
