She's Got #MamaPower: Meet Community Member Kasee Bailey

Kasee Bailey considers herself a pencil pusher — in the best way.

As creator of Longhand Pencils, Kasee shares her love of writing with whimsical, hand-stamped pencil sets inspired by pop culture.

Today on our “She’s Got #MamaPower” feature, Kasee shares what she’s most proud of in her business, what the future of Longhand Pencils holds, and why she firmly believes in the Mama Power community.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF ACCOMPLISHING SO FAR IN YOUR MOTHERHOOD + BUSINESS JOURNEY?

I am proud of following my passion and creative instincts to start the business in the first place. I was terrified and filled with so many internal censors telling me why I shouldn’t do it, and how I wasn’t ready. But I felt strongly about the idea and just started, even though I didn’t know much. I’ve learned every day along the way and feel proud of myself for believing enough in my idea and my capabilities to go for it. I’ve put so much into it consistently over the last year.

I’m also proud of how I’ve been able to grow my business over the last year. I’ve worked hard and collaborated with some amazing businesses and people, and I have loved building that network.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF AND YOUR BUSINESS THREE YEARS FROM NOW?

Good question! I have so many ideas for my business, and so many things I’d like to do. While I’m still figuring out what avenues I’d like to pursue — and what I have the capacity to do — for the growth of my business, in three years I see Longhand Pencils continuing to working with incredible businesses and organizations. I hope to still be pursuing my creative ideas and sharing my love of writing and pop culture!

HOW HAS BEING PART OF THE MAMA POWER PROGRAM HELPED YOU IN YOUR BUSINESS?

It is not overstating things to say that Mama Power has been an absolute gamechanger for me and my business. Ever since I joined, (after a wonderful experience at this year’s Mama Spring Break), I have been connected with an incredible tribe of supportive, passionate, and inspiring women who have become my friends and examples. We share our struggles, our wins, and continually cheerlead each other. There is such power in women joining together to help each other’s businesses succeed; Mama Power has created that tribe for me.

WHAT TYPE OF RETURN HAVE YOU SEEN ON YOUR INVESTMENT WITH MAMA POWER?

Not only has Mama Power helped me grow my network and following, but its helped me expand my business with a hivemind of women who support me in working through problems and offering their insight. The growth I’ve seen in Longhand Pencils the last six months - including opening up my business for wholesale and expanding my product line — is largely due to Mama Power.

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO A MOM BUSINESS OWNER WHO IS CONSIDERING THE MAMA POWER COMMUNITY AND/OR WORKING WITH THE MAMA LADDER?

Invest in yourself and in your business by joining Mama Power. So often it feels like those around us — even well-meaning friends and family members — don’t understand who we are and what we do as mamapreneurs. (And what we go through!) Mama Power gets you. The Mama Power community is a safe and supportive space that will help you feel understood, valued, and supported — and ultimately, become the business owner and mom you want to be. It’s worth every penny.
