She's Got #MamaPower: Meet Community Member Lauren Webb

Marketing and brand strategist Lauren Webb boasted an impressive professional resumé — even more she started her own business. Now, as founder of Evoke Media, she helps create communication, marketing, and public relations strategies that elevate brand awareness.

Today on our “She’s Got #MamaPower” feature, Lauren shares how she took major challenges in stride, how she hopes to grow her business, and what she’s gained as a member of Mama Power.

What are you most proud of accomplishing so far in your motherhood + business journey?

We have worked with 28 clients in 2.5 years from the UK, Europe and the US. I had set out to simply see if I could make my salary on mat leave after the company I was working for unexpectedly filed for administration. Within 3 months I met my goal and haven't looked back since (perhaps once maybe!) I've always been someone who will accomplish whatever I set my mind to but looking back and thinking about how I built my company with twins and a baby at the same time, I don't think, at the time I comprehended the challenge, rather I took it in my stride. It's only now looking back that I think 'Wow! How did you do this?!'

Where do you see yourself and your business three years from now?

In 3 years time, I will be in my business on a part-time basis, with a member of my team managing the day to day running of the team. My goal is to create a business that can run without me, that creates exciting opportunities for the team for their own career and personal development and attracts exceptional clients as a result of the results we deliver.

How has being part of the Mama Power program helped you in your business?

Holding me accountable to get the important stuff done. It also makes me feel more courageous to take decisions that might otherwise take me a little longer to get to.

What type of return have you seen on your investment with Mama Power?

I haven't been with you long, but I took a decision that I've long toyed with. I hire a permanent contractor - a business structure that I have toyed with for a long time as a result of Crystalee ;) - and within 9 days of them being onboard they brought in a big client win for us! If I hadn't have brought them in when I did, then it's very likely we would have missed this client opportunity.

What would you say to mom business owner who is considering the Mama Power community and/or working with The Mama Ladder?

The Mama Power community truly is a powerful, safe and supportive space. If you're considering it, I would urge you to trust your instinct - if you're there reading about it, then your instinct is trying to tell you something. I'd tell them to lean into that because it will be the best decision. Join us with an outcome and intention in mind to get the most out of it. The Mama Ladder has been with me in some form throughout my journey and I've witnessed not just my own changes but those of other women in similar situations with challenges and opportunities that resonate.
