A few years ago I sat in a crowded conference room with hundreds of professional communicators in Denver. It was the PRSA National Conference.
I spoke in a breakout session about my published research on gratitude in the workplace.
Despite feeling proud of my presentation, I wanted to cry.
I realized I had to make a decision.
As a mother of two small babies at home, speaking at that conference was a thrill for me (to travel, feel important, validated, etc.), but it showed me I needed to PIVOT the time I was spending on my businesses. It was just too much.
I was committed to my copywriting company and my my brand new company, The Mama Ladder® (and I still am!) but I’d been toying with a third business idea for corporate anniversary consulting, which I called AnniverStory®.
I saw a need to choose between AnniverStory® and The Mama Ladder®. (I didn't need to run more companies than children I was raising! I had two kids at the time.)
I chose The Mama Ladder®. I've never looked back.
